How to Help

Letter of Objection.

Please note that a new planning application has now been submitted by the RMBI – ref:05/00022/OUTM
This means objection letters written last year are no longer valid.

Important: If you want your objections to count you must write again.

If possible, each member of your household should send a separate letter.

Mr. Hendley has confirmed that he will continue to accept representations right up to the planning meeting but as the date isn’t known yet, it would be best to write as soon as possible.

If you have written before, then you can simply write to the council at the address opposite asking for your previous objections to be taken into consideration for the revised application. Remember to quote the new ref. number above, plus the old one (04/002546/OUT) if referring to a previous letter.

If you havn’t written an objection letter before, then please send a letter now giving your objections.

You can also e-mail your objection to the address opposite.

You can object online – see “news” section on how to do this.

Letters
You can mention any aspects of the development which you are concerned about, for example;

  • Loss of a rare green corridor, essential for air quality and wildlife.
  • Destruction of historic parkland at Fulford’s heart.
  • Loss of peaceful surroundings for Connaught Court residents.
  • Destruction of more trees.
  • Extra traffic on St Oswalds Rd and Main St. (conservation area)
  • Increased risk of flooding.
  • Loss of essential on-street parking for church and surgery.
  • Loss of habitat for wildlife (inc. bats, owls woodpeckers etc).
  • Effect on bordering conservation areas and the ings.

Sign Petition. (Please note that the petition is not now valid as a new application has been submitted – this makes your individual letters even more vital)!

A petition of local residents now has over 1000 signatures.

Excerpt from York’s local plan: NE8

“Planning permission will not be granted for development which would destroy or impair the integrity of green corridors”.

“These green corridors are a particularly important part of what makes up the character of York”.
