Whitehead Tree report. (No 1).

The conclusions of this independent report show that the RMBI’s claim that they are preserving the existing trees on site, is far from the truth. Over half of the individually protected trees will be lost or threatened by the development plans as they now stand, and almost a third of the protected tree groups will be compromised.

In addition, there will be a definate loss of at least 15 smaller unprotected trees, including 4 memorial trees which were only planted a few years ago.

The RMBI claim that they are “retaining” or even “enhancing” the green corridor, but Mr Whitehead states: “The green corridor is truly a corridor, a narrow strip, and does not constitute a significant landscape feature when compared to a park”.

Mr Whitehead calls into question the Castle tree report which is submitted with the RMBI’s planning support statement. It does not conform to BS 5837 – “Trees in Relation to Construction 1991”, nor does he regard it as an authoritative report.

The council officer is awaiting further details on the plans from the developers and we can only hope that our concerns may be addressed – but we fear the worst.

If you do not have time to read the whole report – please check the conclusions on the last two pages!
