Scheme refused!

Planning permission was unanimously refused this evening with councillors citing 4 reasons:

1. Bowling green too close to trees and not commensurate with the existing green.
2. Detrimental effect on the conservation area.
3. Loss of, and risk to trees.
4. General loss of amenity.
Further concerns would be minuted.
This means that it will be more difficult for the RMBI to win an appeal although they will surely submit one.

Members of the planning committee were critical of the scale of development proposed and considered that as much development as possible had been squeezed in without regard to the qualities of the site. We agree with this and have always maintained that it was not a “Fulford Friendly” scheme.

Thanks to all residents who attended the meeting and to all those who were brave enough to come to the site-meeting in such appalling weather – it was worth it!
Special thanks to all members of the planning committee who listened and responded so magnificently to our concerns.
